Trevanion House Holidays week long trip to Vendee, France, including trips to Foussais-Payre, Fontenay-le-comte and La Plage de la Terriere.
Having thalready visited Normandy in 2014 for the 70 Anniversary of the D Day landings, this time they headed south to Vendee. Traveling overnight via the Plymouth Roscoff ferry, the journey continued at a leisurely pace through Brittany and the Vendee area.
Polperro Festival was born out of a discussion back in 1995 between a group of like-minded folk considering how best to attract visitors to the village during a week that was known to be quiet.
Inspired by Jonathan Couch’s description of traditional festivities that had once taken place in Polperro as well as a visit to a similar event in France, they dreamed up ideas for the first Polperro Festival of Arts, Music and Drama which took place from Thursday 20th June to Sunday 30th June 1996.
Businesses got behind the idea, providing funding by advertising in the souvenir programme and offering sponsorship. Pubs and restaurants put on their own musical entertainment and hosted art and photography exhibitions. The village hall was used...
Welcome One & All to this very special time for our village. Mevagissey has celebrated the ‘Feast of St Peter’ since 1754. It has evolved into a wonderful community event, where we welcome locals, exiles and visitors to join us in our celebrations. The Feast Week Committee have worked very hard to produce a full week of activities which we invite you all to partake in.
The weeklong event features exhibitions, demonstrations, live music and lots of fish dishes to eat. Along with choirs and bands, flora dances, children’s entertainment and competitions, plus colourful parades, boat and raft races, a fete and a huge firework display.
